Three lions on his shirt!

Congratulations to Elikem Amenku in Year 11, who has been selected to represent the England Under 16 Schoolboy football team in the forthcoming Victory Shield Tournament, which will be televised live on Sky Sports.  The competition involves the national sides of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, with previous players of the tournament including Wayne Rooney, Joe Cole and Jermaine Defoe. 

This is a massive achievement for a very talented young player, who is also currently playing at the West Bromwich Albion academy.  Since taking charge of the football team at the very end of Year 8, Mr Horner has seen a huge improvement in the entire team's performances, but in particular, Elikem's.  Commenting on this outstanding achievement, Mr Horner told the website, "Elikem has always been a good player, but he has worked unbelievably hard at developing his whole game.  I have spoken with him in the past about his hopes and dreams of making it in the football world and he has maintained this focus throughout the entire time that I've known him.  He deserves this opportunity 100%.  What an inspiration for all of the students at George Dixon".
